Last Saturday, I went to Malmö where I had the most delightful vegetarian brunch at Café Grannen. If you ever find yourself in the city, this little spot is absolutely worth a visit.
The café has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with that special Malmö vibe: relaxed, creative, and wonderfully unpretentious. One of the first things you notice when you step inside is the artwork: the walls are covered — almost gallery-style — with paintings by local artists. They hang close together, colourful and expressive, giving the café a lively, personal feel.

Their brunch costs 185 SEK, and for that price you get a generous, colourful plate filled with vegetarian goodness. What truly makes Café Grannen stand out from other vegetarian cafés is their salad. It might sound simple, but the combination of fresh, crisp ingredients and a really delicious, well-balanced dressing makes it something special. It’s the kind of salad you remember afterwards — the kind that makes you wish you knew their secret.
The rest of the brunch is just as thoughtfully prepared, with a mix of flavours that feels both wholesome and indulgent. It’s a meal that leaves you satisfied without feeling heavy.
And I have to mention the staff: the service is genuinely friendly in that effortless, natural way that immediately puts you at ease. It adds so much to the overall experience.
If you’re vegetarian (or simply enjoy plant-based food), Café Grannen is a gem. And even if you’re not, this brunch could easily win you over.
You’ll find Café Grannen at:
Östervärnsgatan 5, 212 18 Malmö, Sverige
A lovely little place that reminds you how you can tranfer the traditional brunch concept into something special.
